Heimstone Autumn-Winter 2009

Tell me that i have to buy clothes from ONLY one brand (no cash limits) and i'll tell you something unexpected! No Chloe', no Marc Jacobs, no Lanvin! I would only chose this brand to staff into my wardrobe and i would make that with no regrets!! Heimstone is a French brand that i follow for many years now and i have to say that there is no season that has passed and that i've been let down! What i like the most is that all clothes can be wearable from morning to noon, they are casual but with a twist and rock but with a sweetness at the same time!
I also love Heimstone's concept! And as for concept i mean that the design duo-Alix Petit and Delphine Delafon- all these 3 years of creation has used the same model, Lolita Jacobs that not only appears in the photoshoots but also is the protagonist of all the fashion videos that have been created for the brand! Oh and you have to search for the soundtracks of Heimstone videos as they are the best!

Alix Petit did a small interview for PureTrend and here are some interesting facts to know about the Heimstone creator!

What did you want to become when you were little?

If you reconverted into a pair of shoes, what shoes would you want to be?

For this winter what are you planning to buy?
A pair of Louboutins

Have you ever shopped online?
No, never!

What are your favourite fashion blogs? and Punky B

You can find Heimstone at: Freeshop, Voukourestiou 50, Athens

DElight and GUESTS!

So what does a plastic octopus DO at the backstage of DElight's show?!?!?! Konstantinos Dagritzikos is well known for his DJing and directing skills at the Six DOGS (Avramiotou str) but till now i wasn't aware of his sense of humor!! So, i couldn't help it! I found it HILARIOUS when he rushed backstage bringing a plastic octopus and trying to put air in it!!! And while some of you might think that the DElight duo would be furious with his action...there they were HELPING the octopus grow fatter-literally minutes before the show started!!!!
Of course as i mentioned at the previous post, everything was so organized that there was no reason for stressing up! All models lined up, and we were there to help them zip their shoes and dress them up! Ismini, minutes before doing her catwalk thing, turned to be our favourite model (FASHION BLOGGERS APPROVED!) Not only is she Greek but this was her second ever catwalk show and we dare to say that she rocked!!
In the last set of pictures you get to see all things RED: the DElight trousers that Stella (personal DElight helper) wore and our beloved Nina_Malvada that came to see us before the show!

DElightful backstage!

DElight photographed after the successful ending of their show...
...and together with the backstage dream-team!!
My feet are seriously killing me but it is one of those times that it was worth it 100%! Fashion Week just ended and if you read these ladies posts (see here, here and here) you must know by now that me, Queen B and Lopi were backstage assisting at the shows! We started with the simple and everyday clothes of Julia Bergovich, followed by Katerina Alexandraki and today's finale was made by the futuristically-delightful DElight!!!
Daphne Iliaki and Evi Retziou created their first Autumn/Winter 2009/2010 collection after graduating from Marketing and Accounding schools, respectivaly! Back then, i was impressed by the shapes they created and also by how young and talented they were!
A year later, DElight spring/summer 2010 collection was inspired by the kaleidoscopic effect and their color pallet was consisted mainly by pinks, light blues and greys! Also all clothes had the patterned kaleidoscopic image that was printed at their invitations, too.

Personally speaking, the girls backstage were extra-ulta-mega organized and highly positive and relaxed! These facts conducted in me declaring that DElight are going to become one of the most succesful greek design-duo...FOR SURE!

more backstage images coming soon!

the designer graduation

For the last couple of days i was missing in action! M.I.A. as they say! and that's because today it was finally my graduation! For the ones of you that don't know it, i just graduated in Economics! I'm not quite sure if that's the career for me though! And one sign is that i was happier to chose the dress i was going to wear than for the graduation itself!! Freaking Fashion Weirdo haa?!

Thank God i was lucky enough to find the-perfect-dress-and a dress that has quite a history for me,too-!! A Filep Motwary from the Spring 2009 collection!!! Not only do i love the shape and construction of this dress but i'm also quite emotional while wearing it, as i was THERE BACKSTAGE helping Filep Motwary and Maria Mastory for the runway show of that collection, too! And i'm telling you... it was SURREAL to wear a dress that i once put on models!!! Luckily Filep decided to throw some sample sales and the dress ended up in my hands!!! GOD SENT!!!!!

p.s. i have the impression that there are some more pieces left, so please visit Filep Motwary's page to find out
UPDATE>all clothes are sold, only shoes are left!

The Rachel guilt!

Ok ok! Guilty as hell!! Excuse my recent absence- i've been swallowed by the second season of the Rachel Zoe project! Right now, i can't seem to find anything else interesting! Maybe it's the Anne Hathaway Oscar gown-backstage story or the fact that Karl Lagerfeld agreed to alter one of his dresses after Rachel's request! Or maybe it's just the fact that i'm going BANAAAANAS!

Athen's Fashion week starts today! What can i say? Maybe that only can distract me!!

p.s.if you also want to go banaaanas this is the way to do so! Don't say that you haven't been warned though!

Florence and the Wardrobe

The legend says that Kate Moss was discovered by chance, while she was passing through JFK Airport on vacation with her parents. First thought on my mind? Fate!
Well, here's another legend..a more modern one! Florence Welch,23, was discovered singing Motown covers in a nightclub toilet, drunk!...First thought on my mind? Eccentric fate!!!
Florence Welch is no other than Florence+the Machine!

Florence And The Machine's music has received praise across the British music media, especially from the BBC who brought them into the spotlight as part of BBC Introducing. Later on, at the Brit Awards 2009 Florence picked up the Critics Choice Award for their debut album "Lungs"
that was released in July 2009 .
If i'm correct this is the first time that i mention a singer in this blog and some of you i'm sure will be confused! OK i wouldn't present Florence if i didn't admire her music-that's for sure (you should definitely listen to her version of "You've got the love"). The reason i'm bringing her up, is that i really admire her style!

What i like about her is that instead of having an "ordered" look, she has a love for costumes, second hand and vintage clothes. She even says that many of her clothes belonged to her grandfather!

And as i wished that i could see what's inside her wardrobe, i discovered this Vogue article that actually counts all her belongings!
4 jackets+10 shirts+6 waistcoats+2 feather capes (!!)+20 dresses+6 pairs of shorts+20 pairs of shoes+6 bras+8 pairs of pants+20 vintage T-shirts+7 skirts+3 jumpsuits+3 pairs of leggings+14 pairs of high heels+6 bags

now you get the idea of what "balanced wardrobe" means!

(don't know about you but i think that i'm not able to count all the things inside my closet...and i don't think that the only problem is the mess!!!!DARE YOU TO DO SO THOUGH)

Weekdays and WeekENDS

Weekday is a Swedish brand and megastore that promotes what you might call “Stockholm style”, like slim jeans, egg-shaped coats, fine and cute dresses and reduced minimalistic shirts. This brand has influenced contemporary fashion like hardly any other in Europe. Till now you thought only H&M could do that, right?! Weekday does that, too and if you're not familiar with this label, you surely must be with Acne that you can also find at Weekday stores and Cheap Monday which is much more affordable and also has some of the best-fitted jeans i ever tried on!
To be honest i didn't search for the possibility of any online shopping but at least if you're planning a trip to Sweden you know what store you should definitely visit!

Irving Penn

Irving Penn, the master photographer whose fashion images in Vogue magazine for more than six decades bridged the gap between commercial photography and fine art, died Wednesday morning. He was 92.

Beginning in 1943, Penn had a long career with Vogue, where he shot more than 150 covers, more than any other single photographer, and was consistently showcased in the magazine’s pages. “In my career, I have met no one else who worked with the level of imaginative intensity and economy of Irving Penn,” said Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour.

Penn and Richard Avedon were generally regarded as the two dominant fashion photographers of the mid-20th century, but their approaches were as different as their personalities. Avedon, who died in 2004, was almost as visible in front of the lens as behind it. His work, a longtime staple of Harper’s Bazaar, swirled with movement and vigor. Penn, shy to the point of reclusiveness, made pictures that were more cerebral. They reflected his early training as a painter. He related well to the architectural designs of Balenciaga and Issey Miyake.

One of his favorite subjects was his wife, a leading fashion model of the Forties and Fifties who appeared in some of Penn’s most widely reproduced pictures. They were married in 1950 and remained together until her death in 1992.

He was acclaimed not only for the pictures he made, but also for the process by which he made them. In 1964, unhappy with the way his pictures looked in the magazine, he began printing his new work and reprinting his older negatives in a difficult, expensive and esoteric process called platinum-palladium. It was a technique that had been used early in the 20th century by Alfred Stieglitz and Edward Steichen. By printing multiple images of the same negative on fine paper that he prepared himself, Penn was able to achieve a startling degree of control over his images, to give them warmth and character and tone that slipped the bonds of commercialism to attain the status of art. He was one of the century’s master printers.

Vogue in 1950 sent Penn to Paris for the first time to shoot the fall couture collections. Penn did not take runway pictures. In search of a setting with natural light, he found space in a former photography school. It was a seventh-floor walk-up, and the windows were covered with dust. It was perfect. The dust diffused the light, giving the scene a romantic fragility that served to accentuate the bold lines of the Paris gowns.

The apparel industry formally recognized Penn in 2004, when he was given the Eleanor Lambert Award by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. In 1958, he was named one of “The World’s 10 Greatest Photographers” by Popular Photography magazine.

“I am a professional photographer,” he said, “because it is the best way I know to earn the money I require to take care of my wife and children.”

Current obsession: Yasmin Sewell

Yasmin Sewell has been at the forefront of fashion since she moved to London from Australia at the age of 20.
Soon after arriving Yasmin launched the cult boutique Yasmin Cho, which was voted one of the world's five most influential stores, for three years. Known internationally for her sharp eye and ability to spot the future stars of fashion, Sewell appeared on best-dressed lists worldwide as buying director for Browns.
I have to say that she is my current obsession -stylewise! I love her laid-back style and how she manages to look cool in such a simple wardrobe! oh! And did i mention her haircut? I'm actually thinking of cutting my hair "Yasmin-like" these days that my hair is turning into a jungle! So, after all these thoughts-that are not so secret anymore- i was stunned to read that Yasmin Sewell DOES consider a haircut as an important piece of fashion and that she DOES have feelings for comfortable clothes!
Read below the Yasmin's Q&A for TimesOnline site and discover the secrets of her style!

What is your fallback outfit?
Slouchy jeans, a vibrant-coloured printed T-shirt and a double-breasted blazer.

What is your one piece of fashion or beauty advice?
Invest in a great haircut that reflects your personal style.

If you could steal anyone's wardrobe - past or present, fictional or real - whose would it be and why?
It would have to be Katharine Hepburn's wardrobe. I'd wear every single piece, none of it would go to waste.

What makes your style idiosyncratic?
I suppose I'm really comfortable in what I wear, which translates as confidence. Others react more positively to me when I'm wearing clothes that I feel comfortable in rather than the killer, “just seen in Vogue” dress.

Doo.Ri under.ligne

Honestly can you believe that this is jersey? jersey is soft but HAS to be flat, shapeless...Doo.Ri managed to change my day...I am absolutely in love with this dress.. It comes in a casual color, it's jersey so it's mend to be soft and cosy and it has that little twist on the back that makes it special!
And i so loved what Doo.Ri said about the collection and how it holds a special place in her heart because it’s really just about the clothes and about what she wants to wear instead of the giant runway production and editorial pressures.

I'm starting sewing lessons today my friends. and i just found the ideal D.I.Y!

rebecca dautremer

This is one of my all time favorite necklaces! It's so simple yet so beautiful, that i almost wear it daily lately! Despite the "it goes with everything" factor, i'm also in love with the fact that the illustration of the red princess is taken from one the most lovely children's books around! The Princesses book by Rebecca Dautremer. Not only does she illustrate the books, she also writes the stories along with her husband Taï-Marc Lethanh!
She has also written Cyranno and the L'amoureaux!
If you don't know her but you're in love with children's illustration (like moi!) you should definitely go and search her name around the bookstores!
You'll fall in love, too!

Monsters and Co.

well, we are all familiar with collaborations! take kate moss for topshop, comme de garcon for h&m and you're in!
The unfamiliar collaboration is the above one!! The brand Opening ceremony (the one where Chloe Sevigny also designs pieces) collaborated with the "celebrities" of the up coming Warner Bros film "Where The Wild Things Are" and brought to life clothes inspired of these fury creatures!! Each piece was inspired by the protagonist, Max the boy king, and the his pack of “Wild Things” - Carol, Judith, K.W., Alexander, Ira, Douglas, and even the Bull Monster. The collection includes reversible vest, bomber jacket, parka, t-shirt dress, and more. All constructed in detail to best reflect the film and the children book.

Well, at least now you'll done with the drama of what to wear to go and see the movie! anticipation of the film, check the trailer here
