Michael Zavros

this is the week that i'm discovering and remembering great Greek artists that live in Australia. Michael Zervos has an undeniable talent. I was firstly introduced to his work when i once found his "fashionable kentauros" images of half men-half horses that wore burberry prorsum, yves saint laurent or dior. and then not so long ago i've read at yatzer about his-then-new collaboration with balenciaga! (click here to read the yatzer article).
so after about 2 months, it had to be this particular afternoon that i saw this video that shows the whole artistic procedure of michael zavros balenciaga images! it's so lovely to hold a balenciaga bag-imagine designing one, too!

Lanvin loves Acne

In times of crisis, working in collaborations proves to be useful for both collaborating parts. H&M was smart enough to collaborate with the biggest names of high-end clothing industry all these years and names such as Comme des Garcons, Roberto Cavalli, Victor&Rolf, Stella McCartney,Karl Lagerfield and Matthiew Williamson don't seem to lose their status by producing their clothes in the mass market.
Acnes is not one of the brands that can be considered low cost. Nevertheless it's always interesting to see collaborations and this time it was Lanvin's Alber Elbaz who designed a small collection for Acne! Jeans blend up with darker shades of jean fabrics and Alber proves that wearing head-to-toe jeans is actually possible and tasteful!
I have to say that i was a bit disappointed by the prices as they range from 250 to 820 € when Lanvin's ready-to-wear pieces, start at about $1,000 but let me be little meanie as i think that Zara will be one of the first to copy-copy head-to-toe jeans!

Tina Kalivas

Tina Kalivas has a Greek background but has grown up in Australia. Her A/W 09 collection is inspired by the Afghan refuges and it's rather inspiring how she mixes nude colors with neon pink, orange and even bright yellows and blues.

in her own words:
I was fascinated for a while with Afghani culture just though movies I had seen like Kandahar. I was amazed at the creativity that comes from this culture considering they are living in such a harsh environment. The desert landscape itself is so confronting let alone living in caves within the mountains. When I looked more and more into the textiles that came from Afghanistan I became obsessed with getting closer to the culture. I had met a journalist in London who spent a while in Afghanistan as a spokesperson for the United Nations and since then the meeting with her stuck in my mind. I bumped into her in Sydney at a book launch and she told me about a group of Afghani refugee Women here in Sydney who were known to have amazing embroidery skills. So through numerous phone-calls and research I met the community workers who look after them and we drove way out to the Western suburbs to meet them. That first meeting with them opened a gateway to a very unfamiliar form of creativity, but very exciting.
Coming from a Greek family at least I could relate to them on that cultural level!

New York New Yoooork!

Caroline Trentini and Daria Werbowy as photographed in Mario Testino’s new editorial for Vogue US “City of Dreams”. I really like it when editorials are not just photos of models wearing new clothes, but also have a whole stoty that are based on. City of Dreams is a story of two young actresses trying to make it big in New York!i chose only their everyday casual looks to show you as i found them rather ispiring!Enjoy!

Glamour Magazine July issue

glamour magazine is turning to be one of the most important sponsors of the greek fashion blog scene and i'm more than grateful for that! at glamour's june issue, you may have saw the interview i gave along with 5 other great greek fashion bloggers (Fashion Architect, Alecca Rox, Streetgeist and QueenB). Now it was time that we showed our support and love for the magazine back! And there was no better way, than wearing the gift tee of last issue "I HEART GLAMOUR"
This time you can see from above Elena, Alecca Rox, Nina Malvada, Katerina, Pinelopi and me along with a new and special friend of mine Giorgia from Italy, all wearing the glamour tee in our own style! And that's the great thing about fashion! One tee- seven ways of wearing it! Choose one for everyday of the week!
Last but not least i have to specially thank Glamour girl Amalia Agathou who never stops showing us her support and that is the reason that these 2 last months we heart glamour MORE THAN EVER!

all the buddies

What a lovely day it is the one that you wake up with a gift parcel waiting to be opened! this tee was specially sent to me by StyleForStyle's Giorgia! I may have mentioned before that half last year i lived in Milan and all that time i was searching for Italian fashion blogs unsuccessfully! As they say, great things come unexpectedly and so it had to be a year later that i discovered Giorgia's blog and not only was it the first Italian blog i found, not only was it lovely but there was also a StyleForStyle e-shop ! I instantly fell in love with this particular tee and Giorgia was kind enough to sent it to me! Visit her blog and definitely her e-shop as i'm having a feeling that these tee's are going to be the next hip thing!

discover ioanna kourbela

every time i lose myself in the small roads around Plaka i always remember to pay a visit at Ioanna Kourbela's showroom! Last time i did that i was pleased to find out that her new line was accompanied by an amazing photo shoot! Not many Greek designers take seriously the photos presenting their new collections and that's why i was so happy to see that Kourbela's catalog not simply presented the new line but also was artistic enough to make me ask for it when i entered the shop! The girl there told me that i can see the clothes also on the site (something that i already had done) but i wanted so badly to have the catalog that i almost begged for it!
Seriously i'm so excited about the work Ioanna Kourbela, photographer Michalis Kloukinas, hair and make up stylist Manos Agrimakis and artwork designer ChrisTrivizas have done that the catalog now has a place next to all the fashion books on my library.

And of course the clothes that Ioanna Kourbela designs are so greek-spirited that i find the spot of their store ideal! The address of the retail store is: 109 Adrianou str.& 12 Hatzimihali str at Plaka and you can also visit the show room at 12 Hatzimihali str.,Plaka.

jasmin's style

few days ago i went to see a music band at terravibe! the funny part of the story is that i screamed and shouted for more than 10 hours about a band i never saw on stage!!!! No i'm not talking about Depeche Mode canceling the show in the last minute! I'm talking about taking part in the shooting of a telephone company's new ad!
Now the ad is out and you can watch it on the telly! The story is about a concert to be made. while the crowd is waiting for the band to arrive, a young girl sees them first and shouts "here they are".
That girl's real life name is Jasmin! And i couldn't help but take a picture of her as she was dressed to impress! Pink tights under a black mini skirt and on top a white tee with badges all over the front-even on her bra! she finished the look with pink way fares and a black hat! so cute and so perfectly fresh and right for a live concert!

after graduation

some days ago a friend of mine graduated! for celebrating the degree he took us all to an italian restaurant! before leaving i found the time to take a quick photo and later on i realised that the sky behind me had the most amazing colors thanks to the sunset! weirdly i wasn't in the mood for a dress or a skirt and even more weirdly i was in the mood for heels! (i don't do heels often although i'm a lover).the rest of the outfit was quite simple as u can see.

that bag

i'm starting to worry about myself! few days ago i found the pic on the right while surfing through fashion sites. the girl wearing all black is hanne-gaby odiele and she is one of the hottest models right now! while checking the pic more carefully, i saw the bag the girl on the right holds! and it shook me! i've seen that bag before! and indeed i've seen it before! i searched through my zillion pictures saved on the computer and i found it!!! the picture on the left is one of my all time favorites! i remember that i immediately had fallen in love with that bag! how could i not recognise it again? unfortunately i don't have the credit for the first pic but i remember it was taken from a street style site.
i want that bag..i need that bag! if someone knows more info, i'll be more that grateful! it's like a picture deja-vu. please spread the news..hari k in search of the missing bag!
